April Lockhart
April Lockhart, born in 1995 on the 4th day of July, began taking piano and guitar lessons from age seven. The passion for writing songs was ignited. At the age of seven she began to take piano and guitar lessons. This ignited her interest to write songs. At 14, April spent much time writing and honed her music ability. In the following months, April started to take trips to NY and LA with her Dad to help them compose songs. April began also to incorporate other related topics for some of her friends dealing with issues such as bullying by peers and teen suicide in the song Take my Hand. Lockhart, a popular lifestyle blogger and being a partner with clean-cut beauty brands Ilia and YSL, has cultivated her own following. She was born with no left hand. This creates her unique. However, this isn't the only characteristic of her. Lockhart's Twitter profile does not conceal her being disabled, but neither does it make a point of it. What is the message? We all have multiple aspects of identities and that we're much beyond our physical bodies. Lockhart speaks through video from Nashville. "I don't intend to let it define my existence. I do not want to be only identified as a specialist in disability. But it does not affect my daily routine. I continue to do my normal activities and have adjusted to my disabilities. Because it's an integral part of me and something worthy of discussion. Lockhart encourages us to keep striving to be self-accepting. Still, she admits that she went through a few phases with her physique, feeling uncomfortable in certain situations wearing clothing that displayed the arms of her. Today, she wears anything she wants. And she posts pictures on social media. The key to self-love for her is that it's not an end destination. But I think that's for everyone, whatever the source of their anxiety. I think that having people around you who really understand you and can see your feelings is crucial as they'll be the ones who will remind you what you concerned about?
